CUAS meeting, Thursday May 10th, 7 PM, Staerkel Planetarium

Minutes taken by secretary, Phil Wall.

Members attending: 13

- Geoff mentioned that we had a great turnout for the last family skywatch:
100 to 200 people, at least. We think it's partly due to the press
releases we gave out and partially due to the arrangement we had to do
a viewing for the girl scouts.

- Geoff mentioned the signup sheets for Day in the Park (Hessel Park
in Champaign on Saturday, June 2nd) and Taste of Champaign (a few
weeks later). We will have the Taste signup up sheet at the June meeting
as well, since it will still be before Taste. We still need volunteers
to sign up for both events.

- We will start doing Astro 101 every meeting, approximately 15 minutes
including questions. This will be a primer on astronomy and will be
given by any club member who volunteers to do so. We are considering
advertising this as inducement for people to come to meetings.

- Geoff announced the summer CUAS meeting main programs. In June, Bob
Robendunst will lead us in constructing barn door mounts for
astrophotography and will put a parts list in the newsletter. In July,
a U of I professor will give a talk (but we haven't yet contacted one),
and the August program is a surprise.

- Dave announced he is finalizing the order for T-shirts and will check
with the vendor for the price.

- We will have an in-town viewing of the Mars opposition. We will provide
more details at the June meeting.

- The main program was viewing Cosmic Voyage, a video ranging from the
most macroscopic to the most microscopic, starting from the Big Bang
and afterward. In my opinion, rather good.

pwall@argus-systems.com a duck, we have at least to consider the
