CUAS Meeting, 7PM September 13th, 2001, Staerkel Planetarium Members attending: 12 M.C.'d by Jeff Bryant, Vice President - T shirts with club logo and Astronomy 2002 calendars are still available. Dave Leake, treasurer, said that we'll start selling those shirts still not picked up by those who have ordered them. - Dave said that the Orpheum event went okay, had 30 or 40 people see the astronomy exhibits from 1 to 4pm, but it was upstairs with no sign, so people may have missed it. - During the work day at the dome, walls and the rotation device were painted. - We discussed having our annual picnic. We almost decided on Hessel Park, but then changed it to Wayne James' place in the country. It will be on October 13th, followed by the members-only skywatch, also at Wayne James' place. - The members-only skywatch will September 15th. - September 17th: Bob O'Dell giving talk about Hubble Telescope at 7pm at the planetarium, the talk will be free. - September 22nd: Family skywatch - October 18th will be the telescope buyer's seminar. Note that this is not a CUAS meeting night. - Wayne James mentioned that the Dobsonian scopes in the dome should be tilted so that dust and detritus will not settle on the mirrors. - Dave mentioned that one member of the county board is writing the other board members about light pollution. We discussed doing some followup by sending email messages and also inviting city council and county board members out to the dome for a skywatch. - Jeff, assisted technically by Waylena, did a talk about Mars and its features, showing graphics and animations done with the program Vista Pro.
