Minutes of the January 2002 meeting of the CUAS. January 10, 2002. The meeting was called to order by President Jeff Bryant at 7:00 P.M. Approximately 25 members were present. Jeff reported that the following club positions had been approved by the Board. Observatory Director - Mike Rosenberger Webmaster - Chris Pond Newsletter Editor - Dave Leake Dave Leake gave the Treasurer's report. As of Dec. 28, 2001 the balance was $2,571.16. Some dues had been received since that date. There was discussion of several upgrade projects for the Observatory including some lighting for the inside steps, upgrading of the main scope mount, an observing 'corral', and the desire to repaint the inside of the dome this spring. Also, discussed was the need to rekey the lock, and replace keyholder keys. More research/discussion will be done on the mount and lighting projects. Mike Rosenberger had inquired about having the mowers serviced before spring. It was generally determined that it was too expensive, and a couple of members will do the servicing. President Bryant reviewed the upcoming club scheduled observing sessions, and events. Mike Conron then gave a very interesting presentation on his proposal for the club's 16" mirror that had been donated to the club some time ago. He has volunteered to determine the specifications of the mirror and finish work on it so that it may be built into a working scope. Many members were quite interested in this project. Dave Leake then presented a quick sky review for the upcoming year. There will be some very nice chances for viewing the planets this Spring. Submitted by Mark Prather Secretary
