Minutes of the February 2002 Meeting of the CUAS.
February 14, 2002

The meeting was called to order by President Jeff Bryant at 7:00 P.M.
Approximately 25 members were present. We had at least one new member join!

Announcements:

John Dobson will be in Champaign-Urbana April 6 and 7. The CUAS and UIAS
are working toward at least one and possibly more joint meetings/lectures
and possibly an observing session with Mr. Dobson.  Further discussions with
UIAS to gather more information will be required.

CUAS will be present on March 7 at Robeson School. Help will be needed
manning an information booth, and if the weather is good, have a scope or
two set up outside for observing.

Mike Conron gave an update on the 16 inch mirror project. It appears that
the mirror is in really decent shape, and he believes that he can have it
ready for 'mirroring' ??? in the not to distant future. Current thought is
for someone to drive it to the Chicago area - no shipping.... No decision
yet on type of scope to be built.

Notice to all Keyholders. The lock has been changed! You need to get new
keys from Dave Leake. There will be a meeting of ALL keyholders in the not
too distant future.

Jeff Bryant then gave an 'Astro 101' quiz to everyone. And, all enjoyed
going over the Questions and Answers. This prompted further discussions on
what everyone would like to see for future programs. Many great suggestions
came up, and it appears what we now have several months of exciting
programs
ahead.
