Minutes of the May 2002 Meeting of the CUAS.
May 9, 2002

The meeting was called to order by President Jeff Bryant at 7:00 P.M.
There were 17 members present.

A brief reminder to all members regarding the mow list. Any other people that
would like to volunteer are urged to contact Dave Leake. It is believed that
both mowers are operational.

A sign-up sheet to assist with the 'manning' of the CUAS Booth at A Taste of
Champaign-Urbana was passed around. A brief discussion of what we might sell
followed. It is pretty late to line up anything - but, some research into
obtaining something locally will be explored.

Mike Conron brought everyone up to date on the progress with the 16" mirror.
His tests indicate that as the temperature cools and as the evening progresses
- the mirror becomes better.  It will not be long until it will be ready to
be taken to the Chicago area for mirroring.  Aart Olsen is collecting many
of the items that will be needed to construct a truss mount scope.

Wayne James presented this month's Astro 101 on the constellation Hydra.

We then watched approximately the first half of the John Dobson video on
Telescope Making.
