Minutes of the June 2002 Meeting of the CUAS.
June 13, 2002

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 P.M. by President Jeff Bryant.
There were 22 members and visitors present.

The June 1 work party at the Observatory was quite productive. Most all of
the work was completed that was scheduled to be done inside the dome. Some of
the exterior paint could use some touch up.  The pulley system was lubed. The
mice are back, and some damage has been done to one of the club dobs.

The June Skywatch is scheduled for June 15. There will be a Keyholder training
session starting at 7 P.M. Any member that would like to learn how to open,
close, and use the Observatory are urged to attend, as well as any present
Keyholder that would  like a refresher. The training session will be held
as long as it is not raining.

We will be setting up the CUAS booth at the Taste of Champaign-Urbana June
21-23. Friday night the 21st  - some will show up and possibly do a bit
of observing. Saturday and Sunday the tent will be up, and all members are
encouraged to stop by and help spread the word about astronomy and the CUAS.

We voted to authorize the purchase of 2 six foot tables that can be used at
the Taste and other events as well as at the Observatory. Mike Matthews will
take care of purchasing them.

T-shirts, and 2003 calendars are in stock, and available for purchase by club
members. We will be selling them at the Taste of C-U or contact Dave Leake.

Following the business meeting - a very informative program on various
aspects of finishing, and testing of mirrors was presented by Mike Conron,
and Aart Olsen.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
