Minutes of the August 2003 Meeting of the CUAS. The Meeting was called to order by V.P. Phil Wall at 7:00 P.M. There were 22 members present. U of I Astronomy Prof. John Dickel presented a very interesting program on his research with the Large and Small Magellanic Clouds. V.P. Wall then reviewed upcoming Club events and announcements: a). Decatur Astronomy Jamboree at Friends Creek Park - August 23. b). August 27 - CUAS Marswatch 2003 at Meadowbrook Park in Urbana. Time from 10 P.M. until Midnight. Come out and bring your scopes! c). August 29 - UIAS Open House at the U of I Observatory. 10 P.M. until ??? d). August 30 - CUAS Family Skywatch at the CUAS Observatory. Dusk until 1 A.M. e). Sept. 5 - UIAS Open House at the U of I Observatory. 10 P.M. until ??? f). Sept. 6 - Mars Observing at Parkland College at the new soccer fields. 10 P.M. until 1 A.M. g). Sept. 13 - UIAS Open House at the U of I Observatory. 9 P.M. until ??? h). Sept. 20 - Observing at Allerton Park. 7 P.M. until 11 P.M. i). Sept. 27 - Observing at Walnut Point State Park. 8 P.M. until ??? j). Observatory Director Mike Rosenberger reports that the Club now owns a generator. It will be stored in the shed. The Club members authorized the purchase of a wheel kit for the new generator. k). Thank you to the Club members who recently worked at the Observatory and scraped and re-painted the Observatory door. l). Thank you to the Club members who assisted with booth duty at 'A Day In The Park'. m). Astrofest (near Kankakee) will be held on Sept. 19, 20, and 21 this year. The Meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.
