The April 8, 2004 meeting of the Champaign-Urbana Astronomical Society was called to order a few minutes after 7pm by President Jeff Byrant in the Staerkel Planetarium. Sixteen people attended the meeting. CUAS will not attend the Taste of Champaign event. A voice vote showed no opposition to a motion to not attend Taste of Champaign this year. The general members will think about the club should purchasing a green laser and a video eyepiece. More interest in the eyepiece than the laser pointer. Bob Lozar brought a map of light pollution in the area, and passed out maps showing the areas being considered for a dark sky preserve. Speaking of light pollution, here is an improved version of the Dark-o-scope: http://www.mindspring.com/~avery/LPmeter.htm We watched a DVD about the transit of Venus. The Meeting was adjourned at about 8:40PM. Submitted by Bob Rubendunst Secretary, CUAS
