The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by President Mike Lockwood

* Hessel summary - the session was a success and attracted a great crowd. We
should plan more such events, perhaps earlier and encourage people to examine
the scopes in the daylight.

* We want to plan another observing session at Meadowbrook Park on July 28th

* Allerton observing session next Saturday, John Stone may be presenting a talk
but needs to check his calendar

* Event with Decatur club at Allerton? Sept 16th? Dave can contact Brian Maple,
the contact at the Decatur club.

* Potential New Moon observing at our dome on June 24th organized by Kim Petzing
from Allerton with a group of kids

* Mike Lockwood is working with Mike Conron on the 6" Criterion mirror

* We are planning to turn the Park District part of the observatory sign around
and paint over it. On the back, which will face north, we will engrave/paint
Members Only on the sign. During observing sessions, we will have another sign
that will cover this announcing that it is open for public observing.
Hopefully, this will passively discourage people from using the property when we
aren't there.

* Work day Saturday, shed already cleared out for the most part. Need to lay
down plastic under the dome as a moisture barrier.

* Need 1 roll of 6 mil plastic 25' x 10' or so. Phil will get this.

* Someone will contact Bob Lozar to see if he still wants the fork in the shed.

* Dome training this Saturday evening at 6:30 PM

* Dave will be retiring as Newsletter editor and we need someone to fill in.
Dave will continue writing portions and the President will write the monthly
message. Duties needed are primarily to maintain the calendar (primarily from
meeting minutes) and grab material from known resources on the web and maybe
collect stories from other members if available. It only requires a few minutes
a month to print out 40 or so copies at the Park District office, fold, staple
and mail them. The Park District office has the copy machines and materials.
Contact Dave if you are willing to help, we don't want to abandon the
newsletter.

* A group in Ottawa Illinois (closer to Peoria/Chicago) is asking help to
organize an observing event on a weeknight, preferably Wednesday. Given the
distance, we will likely decline, but recommend they contact clubs closer to
their area.

* Potential August meeting topic is to summarize star party experiences.

* President Mike Lockwood presented an overview of summer objects that can be
easily found in the Milky Way and environs including prominent globular star
clusters, galaxies, and nebulae.

Meeting ended at approximately 8:35 PM.
